Official: Greece to vote for lifting of Russian sanctions
ATHENS, Apr 26 (PRIME) -- Greece is still against E.U.–Russia sanctions and believes that they are harmful for relations between the country and the union, First Deputy Foreign Minister for European Affairs Nikos Ksidakis told PRIME on Tuesday.
“Greece believes that mutual sanctions are harmful for relations between Europe and Russia and no one benefits from them. There are only tensions. In our point of view, the sanctions must be abolished,” he said.
Athens has already stared negotiations to lift sanctions, Ksidakis said.
The European Union plans to consider sanctions against Russia in June. Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi said that there will be no automatic renewal and countries will discuss whether to prolong them.
